By creating a survey, I am gaining a range of opinions around my music video idea that I may have been unsure about, for example the main shot choice and the lighting choice. I chose the questions by thinking about some important factors of music videos for example lighting and theme.This gave me the opportunity to have an understanding of what kind of details that others look for in a music video that i may have not yet thought about.
Primary Research into theme (Mental Health):
Here, I asked a few of my friends what their opinions where when it came to mental health and the music industry, specifically music videos. The common idea that I took from my responses was that the music was 'something to relate to'. I also thought this and so when it comes to making my music video I am going to ensure that I am keeping that in mind and making it as relatable and raw as I can. I personally know that it is important for me to not 'glamourise' mental health as, although it can put me in a vulnerable position, people often think that mental health is having a 'bad day' and I feel a lot of passion towards ending stigmas surrounding mental health; this is where my idea for the car scene came from, being around friends and being totally happy and okay but then going home and being alone. I really want the narrative to be emotional and as honest as possible.
